Parents usually have a lot of questions about their children's care, and we are happy to provide the answers! Check out our list of frequently asked questions below. If you can't find the answer here, feel free to contact us for more information.

  • What are your business hours?

    We are open Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM–6:00 PM. We are closed on weekends.

  • Do you follow the Southington school calendar?

    We do not follow the school calendar or school closures due to inclement weather.

  • Is The Nurturing Nest ever closed for care?

    We are closed on:

    • New Year’s Day
    • Good Friday
    • Memorial Day
    • July 4th (observed)
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving
    • The day after Thanksgiving
    • Dec 24-26
    • On New Year’s Eve, we close at 1:00 PM.
  • Do you provide snacks or lunch for the children?

    We do not provide snacks and lunch; parents must pack these for their children.

  • What is your center-based curriculum?

    We implement a play-based creative curriculum with weekly themes and lesson plans. This curriculum includes the key components of developmentally-appropriate goals and objectives for all children within 4 main categories: social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language.   • What are your staff qualifications?

    Each staff member is required by the State of CT to pass a federal & state background check and to receive their Mandated Reporter Certification. Additional trainings and certifications are offered throughout the school year to further our staff’s professional development. 

  • How many children are in a class?

    Our ratios meet State of CT requirements as follows:

    • Preschool age 3 and older: 10 children to one teacher with 20 children and two teachers in the classroom. 
    • Children under 3 years: four children to one teacher with eight children and two teachers per class. 
  • Is the building secure?

    Yes! We offer a secure building with surveillance outside and inside the building. Each family has a personal code for the main door keypad for entry into the building.

  • Are you certified?

    Yes, we have our license from the Office of Early Childhood Education in the State of Connecticut.

  • Have you earned any recognition?

  • How do I begin the enrollment process?

    The Nurturing Nest programs run their school year from September to August. As the Pre-K class graduates in August to attend Kindergarten, each classroom transitions up together for the new school year. When enrollment is available within a classroom, a $75.00 nonrefundable registration fee is required to secure the spot.   • What are the program tuition rates?

    Our tuition rates vary based on each child’s age and schedule. Please visit the Pricing page for more information. 

  • How do I pay tuition?

    Tuition is withdrawn weekly by ACH debit through a parent’s checking or savings account. Please visit the Pricing page for more information. 

  • Do you accept Care 4 Kids?

    At this time we do not accept Care 4 Kids. 

  • What schedules are available for part-time care?

    We offer Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday for our part-time schedules.

  • Do you administer medications?

    We only administer life-saving medications: EpiPens or inhalers. The proper Medication Authorization forms and Individual Care Plan forms must be filled out by the child’s physician and parents. Please see our Forms page for more information.
